Slow Stitch Vintage Spool Journal
Join us at Island Gateway Gallery and Gathering for a hands-on creative workshop in Bayfield, Wisconsin.
In this slow stitching workshop, participants will create a personal textile journal using small fabric scraps, thread, embellishments, and simple hand stitches. Stitches and fabric pieces will be added to a prepared strip of fabric, then wrapped around a vintage wooden thread spool to create a scroll-style journal of thoughts, emotions, memories, and moments.
This mindful textile project invites reflection, calm, creativity, and the beauty of imperfection. No previous sewing experience is required. Embroidery stitches will be demonstrated, and participants are welcome to work at their own pace.
Each participant will receive a Slow Stitch Vintage Spool Journal kit, including a prepared scroll, needle, and thread in a portable project bag. A collection of fabric scraps, threads, embellishments, and sewing tools will also be available. You are welcome to bring small personal items, fabric pieces, threads, or embellishments you would like to include in your journal.

Cost: $20 plus a $1.35 online registration fee

What to bring:
All basic materials are provided. Feel free to bring any small fabric scraps, threads, trims, buttons, beads, lace, ribbon, or meaningful bits you would like to include in your journal.
Youth participants:
Youth ages 10–15 may register when accompanied by a registered adult.
Cancellation note:
Because space is limited, please let us know as soon as possible if you can’t attend. Registration is refundable up to 7 days before the workshop. Within 7 days, registration may be transferred to another participant if arranged in advance.
